OLED monitors are getting more affordable, but that’s all relative—most people wouldn’t consider any monitor with a four-figure price tag to be a “deal.” That’s why OLED monitors for under $500 tend to go fast. Take Newegg’s “Shell Shocker” deal that’s today only: an Acer Predator 27-inch OLED monitor for $449.99, a cool $150 off its current price and more than 50% off its original price.
We’ve featured the Predator X27U before. With a 1440p resolution (2560×1440) and speedy 240Hz refresh rate, it’s hitting the “sweet spot” for PC gamers at the moment, able to handle cinematic single-player games and fast-paced online multiplayer with equal aplomb. It also pairs well with a gaming laptop thanks to USB-C video support with 90 watts of charging, in addition to HDMI and DisplayPort options. I’d also pick up a VESA monitor arm with your savings if you want to spruce up your setup.
At this price, you’re getting a monitor from a very reputable brand with a 3-year warranty, which is nice peace of mind if you’re still wary of switching to OLED. But this is a limited-time offer. Newegg’s countdown timer shows that the deal will expire at midnight US Pacific time (that’s 3 AM Eastern), assuming stock doesn’t run out before then. I’d hop on it quickly if you’ve been waiting for an OLED deal.
If Newegg runs out, Amazon is selling the same model for $500, a decent consolation. Ditto for Best Buy and B&H.
