Has it been worth what you paid for it?

We’re getting close to five years since the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S first hit the market, and although they’ve clearly struggled in comparison to the PS5 and Nintendo Switch, they’ve still proved very popular consoles overall.
There’s an argument in some circles that because of Microsoft’s new “this is an Xbox” campaign, the value of owning a Series X or S has essentially decreased – because you can now play Xbox first-party titles in more places than ever.
That may well be the case for some fans, but the benefits of owning an Xbox Series console – backwards compatibility, FPS Boost, Quick Resume, Smart Delivery, Xbox Game Pass (etc.) also shouldn’t be ignored. That’s not to mention the fairly large list of Xbox exclusives that have yet to cross over to other consoles too!
Cost is obviously an important part of this. Microsoft has spent the majority of the past five years highlighting the incredible value of the Xbox Series S, and although price increases have pushed it up recently, it still remains the most affordable current-gen console on the market (if you exclude the original Nintendo Switch). The Xbox Series X has been more in-line with the PS5 in this area, which makes sense considering how similar their designs are.
So, with all of this in mind – the whole “this is an Xbox” thing and the pricing structure of the Xbox Series X and S over the years – do you feel you’ve had value for money with your purchase? Regardless of whether you bought yours in 2020 or in more recent times, we’re keen to hear whether you think it’s been worth what you paid for it.
