Hits milestone 7x faster than DOOM Eternal
- by Ben Kerry

Exactly one week on from DOOM: The Dark Ages’ early access launch, Xbox and Bethesda have announced a huge player milestone for the id Software FPS – which has now become the “biggest launch” in the studio’s history.
A week after the game’s initial release, DOOM: The Dark Ages has now hit three million players across all platforms. According to publisher Bethesda, the game managed this feat 7x faster than 2020’s DOOM Eternal – the last game id Software released.
As you can see in the above post, this now makes The Dark Ages id’s biggest launch in terms of sheer player numbers in week one – although being included in Xbox Game Pass on day one will of course have helped the latest DOOM title reach this feat in such a short space of time.
In any case, we’d like to extend our congratulations to the now-Xbox first party team that produced DOOM: The Dark Ages, and we hope it continues to be successful in the years to come. After ripping and tearing for a good while during our review playtime, we’re about ready to jump back in and start doing some more doom slaying around about now.
Are you one of the 3 million players to play DOOM: The Dark Ages? Talk to us about it down below.
