Something about this game and the number 3…
- by Ben Kerry

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has been pretty much living rent-free in our heads since it launched on April 24th, and speaking of that launch date… the turn-based RPG has just hit a series of spooky milestones that we can’t quite believe.
Announced today by the developer on social media, Expedition 33 has just hit 3.3 million copies sold, 33 days after its launch last month. And no, it’s not just the announcement that’s been made 33 days on from release – the sales count “as of today” is 3.3 million units (on May 27th).
This is downright weird… right? To be honest, it just adds to the whole narrative around this game – it crept up on us all around release, blew us and pretty much the rest of the industry away last month, and even secured a congratulatory comment from the French President. It’s all happening over there for Sandfall Interactive!
While the title’s Xbox Game Pass launch didn’t contribute to today’s eerie sales milestone of course, its day one arrival did bring in lots of players. In fact, Xbox was the number one platform for the game, despite the worst average playtime – likely due to folks dipping in to try out the experience on XGP.
What do you think of these crazy coincidences for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? Talk to us about ’em down below.
