Remedy Says 'This Is Just The Start' As FBC: Firebreak Gets Xbox Game Pass Roadmap

Remedy has posted a detailed look at “the road ahead for FBC: Firebreak”, as it looks to improve and expand upon the launch experience for its co-op adventure on Xbox Game Pass.

The team starts by announcing that following four early patches over the last month or so, its first ‘major update’ is due out this September. While Remedy has plenty in the works for this big patch, not all of the features are locked in just yet, so the Finnish studio has gone ahead and outlined some of the ideas it has in its plans for this update and beyond.

“The following isn’t everything that we are working on for the September Major Update, nor what comes after that, but these topics represent our focus for the upcoming months of development.”

First off, FBC: Firebreak is adding a playable tutorial level “to do a better job teaching you its core mechanics and features”, while also improving the game’s ‘pop up’ tips that provide important information as you play.

For players who are beyond that early onboarding stage and want to know more about what’s coming to the core game, well, we’re getting three new heavy guns added to the arsenal – while the team is also ditching its current upgrade mechanic for an in-depth mod system that allows for more custom builds.

Finally, the team has talked a little bit about new content coming to the game as well. A brand-new Job is in the works for September’s major update, while the team is also tweaking the game’s current jobs – including a new ‘Crisis Board’ feature that aims to improve current job variety present in FBC: Firebreak.

“This first Major Update will bring a brand-new Job into Firebreak, requiring you to identify and eliminate and hopefully not eat strains of mold using something we internally call “the sushi train” … but more about that later. For now, just know that we’re bringing in a new handcrafted level, three Zones, a new status effect, two more enemies to deal with, and all the rest you’ve come to expect from a new Job.”

For all of the juicy information on this FBC: Firebreak Roadmap, Remedy has provided a bit more detail on these points via its new Steam blog post. It sounds like you can expect plenty of tweaks and additions to make their way into this Xbox Game Pass title as part of the September update, and beyond.
