It was just over 12 months ago that Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged was released for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, so it makes sense that the second game is also getting the treatment very soon!

This one is officially called Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged, and it’s a “faithful reimagining” of 1997’s Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror. Features include high definition visuals with “crisp” audio for the first time, the ability to switch between the original and new versions of the game in an instant, and an option to pick a “story mode” that adds hints and removes the frustration that can some players experience with classic point-and-click adventures.

Here’s what Revolution Software’s CEO had to say about today’s announcement:

The Smoking Mirror has always been one of our most loved games, and with Reforged we were able to enhance it in ways that respect the original while making it shine for modern audiences. Just as with the first game, we can’t wait for players old and new to experience it again”.”

There’s no official release date for Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged just yet, but we know it’s definitely coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and it’s targeting an early 2026 launch.

Additionally, if you’re interested in grabbing a Collector’s Edition (and maybe some other benefits?), the team will soon be launching a Kickstarter campaign to help with that.

We’ll leave you with some official images from the game down below.
