Veteran pass-rusher Leonard Floyd was part of the exodus that San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch is executing in the Bay Area.
Floyd played 17 games for the 49ers last season and notched 8.5 sacks — a perfectly respectable number for a nine-year veteran. Lynch is in the process of clearing a ton of money off his books, though, so Floyd was one of many veterans who got caught up in San Francisco’s purge.
San Francisco’s loss in the Atlanta Falcons’ gain, though. ESPN’s Marc Raimondi is reporting that the Falcons have picked the veteran pass-rusher up on a one-year, $10 million contract.

Although there is some risk for the Falcons — Floyd is 33 years old and coming off his least productive season since 2019 — Atlanta does have a major pass-rushing need to fil and Floyd is at the very least consistent.
He has at least 8.5 sacks in each of his last five seasons, and he had a high of 10.5 in 2020 with the Los Angeles Rams.
As far as getting a solid, veteran pass-rusher is concerned, Floyd is a great pickup for Atlanta on a one-year deal.
